Jackson Janes has written an insightful piece about the importance of international research cooperation in times where governments might be at odds over policies and strategic outlook. Janes invokes the metaphor of networks in order to stress the importance of international research cooperation and collaboration. I will add to this by pointing to one of the most important social science contributions to the study of networks, Mark Granovetter‘s (1973) “The Strenght of Weak Ties”.
